Amalfi during the winter is totally different. You will not find noise or traffic and people are kinder and helful It is not so cold, but nature is wilder and I really can not explain to you how is to explore the mountains and enjoy the sea from 1000 meters.  There the view is terrific and you can see at same time Amalfi, Positano and the Vesuvio

Moreover you can discover the real tradition of the town. During Christmas holidays everybody prepares a neapolitan crib in his home and there is almost a challenge for the best one. Somebody goes to Naples in “San Gregorio Armeno”, the famous street of artisans where you can buy the statues for your crib. Then we start to eat and to eat.  We start the 24th of december and we finish one week later  with 4-5 kilos more.

At midnight of the 31th of December  the  fireworks  from the sea remember you that I new year  is coming and  the party can  start. In the main square the stairs of Cathedral are the stage for the performance of a lot of artists and usually there is the mapping  3d with special effects. Then arrives the musical band with the traditional neapolitan songs and people start to drink. You can meet people you do not know and they give you the best wishes like you were the best friend.

 

In fact during the night the main square of Amalfi is like a big disco and people dance and enjoy them self. If you don’t like the party or the noise you can just go out of the square and walk until the sea, where you can wait for brave people that starts to swim!!!!!

I will never forget what I saw las year, because I had a big surprise with the snow on the beach. It was spectacular and I could not believe it was real.

Noche vieja en Amalfi

Amalfi en invierno es un lugar totalmente diferente . No se encuentra ruido  tráfico y la gente es mas amable. No hay tan frío, pero la naturaleza es más salvaje y realmente no puedo explicar cómo te sientes a explorar las montañas y a disfrutar de la vista del mar desde 1000 metros . Allí, la vista es espectacular y se puede ver al mismo tiempo de Amalfi , Positano y el Vesubio  Por otra parte se pueden descubrir las verdaderas tradiciónes de la ciudad. Durante las vacaciones de Navidad todo el mundo planea su pesebre napolitano en casa y hay casi un desafio por el mejor. Alguien va a ir a Nápoles en " San Gregorio Armeno ", la famosa calle de los artesanos donde se pueden comprar las estatuas mas bellas. Despues empezamos a comer y a comer . Comenzamos el 24 de diciembre y terminamos una semana más tarde con 4-5 kilos moras.

Cuando llega la medianoche del 31 de diciembre  salen los fuegos artificiales desde el mar  y la fiesta puede empezar. En la plaza principal las escaleras  de la Catedral son el escenario para la realización de espectaculos con varios  artistas y normalmente hay  efectos especiales con el mapping 3D. Pues llega la banda musical con las canciones napolitanas tradicionales y la gente empieza a tomas copas. Andando te parece normal  hablar con gente desconocida que te da los mejores deseos como si fuera tu mejor amigo.

 

Toda la noche la plaza principal de Amalfi es como un gran disco y la gente empieza a bailar y a disfrutar. Si no te gusta la fiesta o el ruido sólo tienes que salir de la plaza y caminar hasta el mar, donde se puede esperar a que la gente valiente que se va a nadar!!
Nunca olvidaré lo que vi las años, porque encontre una gran sorpre con la nieve en la playa. Fue espectacular y yo no podía creer que fuera real.
